The consulting industry sold a generation of strategy. The next generation will require systems.
The enterprise is now computable. Every process, decision rule, system dependency, and domain concept can be encoded as a structured object — queryable, simulable, auditable, and operable. Large models, high-performance compute, and formal knowledge representation have collapsed the distance between analyzing a business and running it as a system.
This is a structural shift, not a technological upgrade. It moves the deliverable from the recommendation to the operating model. It moves the relationship from advisory to accountable. And it requires a firm that can operate across three registers simultaneously: rigorous strategic reasoning, formal knowledge engineering, and systems architecture that survives contact with regulated, messy, legacy-rich reality.
